Turkish exit for Reds misfit

Galatasaray are believed to be interested in resurrecting Joe Cole's faltering career by handing the Liverpool misfit a loan spell.

The former England international is facing a bleak future at Anfield, but the Reds are struggling to offload him as his existing contract, which pays him £100,000 a week, isn't due to expire until the summer of 2014.

Cole spent all of last season on loan with Lille, where he earned rave reviews for his performances in Ligue 1 and a return to the French outfit has also been mooted in the January transfer window.

The 31-year-old had come back to England in the summer hoping for a second chance to prove his worth on Merseyside following Brendan Rodgers' appointment as manager.

However, the midfielder is yet to start a Premier League game under Rodgers and his display in the midweek Capital One Cup defeat to Swansea was panned by the Northern Irishman.

The Turkish giants already have ex-Liverpool duo Albert Riera and Milan Baros among their ranks, along with former Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue and Bolton old boy Johan Elmander.

It's thought they would also be able to contribute significantly to Cole's sizable pay pocket which may appeal to the Reds if no one is willing to sign him permanently.
