Preston new-boy and former Luton favourite Kevin Nicholls has described his season-long spell at Leeds as a "nightmare".

The former Kenilworth Road midfielder finally ended his Elland Road hell last week when he joined Championship outfit Preston for £700,000.

Nicholls moved to West Yorkshire last summer for £750,000 but was stripped of the captaincy by manager Dennis Wise in March after admitting he had made a mistake by leaving Luton.

The 28-year-old revealed he was looking forward to a new start in his career at Deepdale, and said: "I am grateful to be playing with first team players instead of being told to train with the kids as I was at Leeds.

"It was a nightmare for me at Elland Road and now I am in a different environment I am looking forward to enjoying my football again."
