Peterborough have agreed a deal with Macclesfield to sign centre-back Shaun Brisley, according to Posh director of football Barry Fry.
Brisley is set to move to London Road on a loan deal until the end of the season, when he will complete a permanent transfer. The highly-rated 21-year-old could even link-up with the npower Championship club before the weekend.
Brisley will be seen as the replacement for Ryan Bennett, who remains on loan at Peterborough until the end of the month after signing for Norwich.
"We are interested in Shaun and we have nearly completed the deal, which is a loan with a view to a permanent transfer," Fry told the Evening Telegraph. "There is no rush because Ryan is here for four more games, but we could actually have Shaun here before the weekend.
"He won't be ready to play against West Ham on Saturday but he could be in the building. The manager thinks he has found another top, young prospect."
Brisley came through the youth ranks at Macclesfield, where he has been an ever-present in the team this season. He made his debut at 17 and has since amassed 141 appearances for the League Two club.
