Sunderland have seen off Palermo in the race to capture John Guidetti on loan from Manchester City in January.
The Black Cats want the Swedish striker, 20, on loan for the rest of the campaign to bolster a strikeforce that has been heavily reliant on Steven Fletcher this season.
Yesterday it was claimed Sunderland faced fierce competition from Italian side Palermo for Guidetti - who impressed while on loan at Feyenoord last season.
Palermo chief executive Pietro Lo Monaco was understood to have already held talks with City, but the Serie A club have now accepted that Guidetti wants to go to the Stadium of Light.
Guidetti netted 20 goals in 23 games on loan at Feyenoord last term but has not played first-team football this season while City waited for him to sign a new three-year contract, which he did in October.
