Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell has made a bid for Man City striker Ched Evans and is now waiting for a reponse from Eastlands.

Wales international Evans is a proven goalscorer at Championship level following a loan spell with Norwich a couple of seasons ago.

However, the 20-year-old's path to the City first-team is blocked by Roque Santa Cruz and Craig Bellamy, while Carlos Tevez is also expected to join the club this summer.

Blades chief Blackwell is hoping to do a deal but he will have to convince the former Chester youngster to take a temporary step down from the Premier League.

Blackwell told the BBC: "We're still monitoring the situation. Manchester City know we're interested and our bid is on the table.

"City have only just returned for pre-season and we are now waiting for them to decide what happens next."
