Reports indicate Manchester City could complete the signing of Carlos Tevez next week, while work continues to capture Samuel Eto'o.
Having seen his temporary deal expire at Manchester United, City confirmed their interest in the player and have been in negotiations with Tevez's advisor Kia Joorabchian.
Despite interest from several other parties, City are leading the chase and it's believed that a deal could be sealed as early as Monday with Mark Hughes keen to then turn his attentions to Barca star Eto'o.
Hughes though has asked for patience on the transfer front, insisting: "It's difficult to say what the time scale will be for every transfer you get involved in.
"The key from my point of view is that we are in the mix for top players, and wheels are in motion. We are trying to conclude deals very quickly in the window and if we can do that, it will be marvellous."
