Gianluigi Buffon has described reports that he could be the next big name on his way to Manchester City as a "journalist's fantasy".

City's new mega-rich Abu Dhabi-based owners have said they will stop at nothing to bring the game's big names to Eastlands, but Italy goalkeeper Buffon, who is currently with the Italy team preparing for Saturday's World Cup qualifier against Cyprus, has insisted he has no desire to leave Juventus.

"It's a journalist's fantasy," said the 30-year-old, who is under contract at the Stadio Olimpico until 2013.

"If an offer like that one arrived, I believe Juve would look at the numbers. But I doubt it would ever arrive."
