The mother of striker Edinson Cavani has revealed 'he wants to leave Napoli' which is certain to alert Manchester City.
City have been heavily linked with the Uruguayan striker, who has a £53.75million buyout clause in his contract with the Italian Serie A outfit, and are expected to make a move for him when the transfer window reopens in the summer.
The forward hinted he could be open to a summer move earlier this week but Cavani's agent, Claudio Anellucci, then moved to cool the speculation over his future and has stressed the player is happy to remain with Napoli.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is believed to be holding out for £60million, which City can afford, while Cavani's mother Berta Gomez has now told a Uruguayan radio station that he is looking to move on.
She said: "He told me he wants to go elsewhere and to leave Napoli, but also that one day he'd love to return to Napoli. Edi doesn't know what will happen yet."
Reports are claiming City will test Napoli's resolve with a huge bid and they will offer Cavani a £13.3million per-year deal to make him the highest paid player in the Premier League.
