Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has hit out at goalkeeper Joe Hart after his latest blunder in the 3-1 defeat at Southampton.

Hart gifted the Saints their second goal at St. Mary's on Saturday as he failed to hold onto Rickie Lambert's drive in the 22nd minute, presenting Steven Davis with a chance which he couldn't miss.

The England international was also at fault for failing to clear his lines in the build-up to Jason Puncheon's seventh-minute opener much to the frustration of his manager.

Mancini remains a big fan of the keeper, who made a brilliant double save for his country from a penalty against Brazil at Wembley on Wednesday night, but the Italian does want the 25-year-old to buck up his ideas after watching the title slip away from the reigning champions' grasp.

He said: "Joe has made too many mistakes. He has not been good enough. It was a really bad mistake from Joe.

"It was not good enough. It's not strange because he's done a few mistakes this year."
