Manchester City have reportedly agreed a 4 million euros fee with Atletico Madrid for central defender Martin Demichelis.
We revealed on Tuesday that City boss Manuel Pellegrini is desperate to bring in reinforcements to his backline before next Monday evening's transfer deadline following Vincent Kompany's groin injury which will rule him out for a month while Micah Richards and Matija Nastasic are also sidelined.
A move for Real Madrid stopper Pepe failed to materialise and Pellegrini then looked to snap up Argentine defender, Demichelis, who played under the Chilean tactician at Malaga last season before joining Atletico on a Bosman free transfer on July 1.
City were looking to pay £2million for the 32-year-old, while the Spanish La Liga outfit wanted double that despite paying nothing for him two months ago.
However it seems City have relented and agreed to pay up for Demichelis with 4 million euros up front and another 580,000 euros in add-ons included in the deal.
Only personal terms stand in the way of a transfer and that is not expected to be a problem as the player is thought to be keen on linking up with Pellegrini at the Etihad Stadium.
