City closing in on keeper

Manchester City target Kenneth Vermeer has hinted that he could be open to a move away from Ajax in the January transfer window.

City manager Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that he is keeping his eyes peeled for a goalkeeper to try and solve his worries between the sticks.

Regular number one Joe Hart has made a number of high profile errors this season and has subsequently been replaced by Costel Pantilimon.

Pellegrini has been monitoring the situation with Vermeer at Ajax with the Holland international seemingly out-of-favour with his current boss he could be in line to make the switch to the Premier League as he bids to be included in the Holland squad for next summer's World Cup.

Vermeer said: "I need to playing and I'm not doing that at Ajax.

"I have other options and will discuss them with my agent in January. You never know what is around the corner in football."
