Manuel Pellegrini says he will rest Yaya Toure and David Silva for Manchester City's FA Cup third round replay with Blackburn.
The Chilean has revealed that the midfield duo are carrying small problems and won't be risked against the Championship side in the hope they will be fully fit for this weekend's game with Cardiff.
Pellegrini says Toure has been playing for two weeks with a back injury, while he is wary of over using Silva after his previous injury problems.
"David Silva and Yaya Toure are (out) with small problems," Pellegrini said. "I hope they will be fit for Saturday.
"Yaya has the last two weeks played with a problem with his back, so it is a risk to continue doing that way. It is better for him to rest for two or three days."
City have been boosted by the news that Sergio Aguero is back in full training following a calf injury and could make his first appearance since December 14 against Blackburn.
City could also include Stevan Jovetic in their squad after a month on the sidelines but Jack Rodwell and Samir Nasri will definitely miss the cup tie.
