Manchester City have until Friday to match Fiorentina's valuation for Stevan Jovetic, according to reports in Italy.
City boss Manuel Pellegrini is expected to complete a deal for Sevilla's Alvaro Negredo in the coming days but the club are still seeking further reinforcements in attack.
The Premier League side have been heavily linked with Jovetic but as yet they have not matched La Viola's 30million euro [£26m] asking price.
Fiorentina have signed striker Mario Gomez from Bayern Munich this summer in a deal that could well pave the way for the Montenegrin's exit, but the Serie A club have apparently given the striker a deadline to find a new club.
The Corriere Fiorentino has reported that Fiorentina have told the 23-year-old he must find a new club by Friday, otherwise he will be made to return to the club's pre-season training camp.
City are likely to face competition for the striker, who has also been linked with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, but it would seem any interested parties will have to move quickly before Fiorentina close the door on a potential transfer.
