City will have to be at their best if they are progress to the UEFA Cup latter stages after being handed one of the toughest draws.
Mark Hughes' side were placed in the third tier of sides and have been drawn in the same group as Paris St Germain, Schalke 04, Racing Santander and former England boss Steve McClaren's side FC Twente.
Each team is in a five-team group and will play two opponents at home and the other two away, with the opening games to be played on 23 October.
Three teams from each group qualify for the next knockout round.
