Manchester City could make a January move for Adil Rami after he was reportedly transfer listed by Valencia.
The 27-year-old angered his boss Miroslav Djukic earlier this week when he openly criticised him in a radio interview.
The French defender also questioned the club's transfer policy after several high-profile departures over the summer.
A furious Djukic responded by dropping Rami from the squad for Wednesday's game against Granada before declaring that the former Lille star will never play for the club again.
That news has alerted City boss Manuel Pellegrini, who is keen to add another defender to his ranks with the future of Joleon Lescott uncertain.
Italian duo Inter Milan and Napoli, who were linked with Rami over the summer, are also believed to be monitoring the situation and could rival City with a bid in the January transfer window.
