Manchester City are reportedly planning a £5.6million move for Atalanta left-back Federico Peluso.

The Italian outfit confirmed that a Premier League side, who they declined to name, had made contact regarding Peluso and speculation suggests Manchester City are the club in question.

It has been suggested that City will offer Atalanta 7m euros, approximately £5.6m, for the 28-year-old, although boss Roberto Mancini is likely to face competition for the defender.

Serie A champions Juventus have also been credited with an interest, while Roma and Napoli are also thought to be keen.

Meanwhile, City target Robin van Persie will not be leaving Arsenal this summer, according to Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

Wenger insists he is "certain" the forward will remain at the Emirates Stadium, despite interest from City and Juve.
