Malaga playmaker Isco is set to be a reported £17million January transfer window target for Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini.
Reports claimed that Mancini travelled to Spain to watch prolific Colombian hitman Radamel Falcao in action for Atletico Madrid last weekend, as he scored in a win against Malaga.
However, it is now being suggested that it was Malaga's 20-year-old Spain international starlet Isco, who was the subject of the Italian tactician's interest in the game.
Falcao and Italian Serie A side Fiorentina's star Stevan Jovetic are still both considered to be longer term targets for Mancini, but it appears that he will try and get Isco on board as early as the New Year window.
Malaga have been known to have financial problems this past summer which prompted the sale of Santi Cazorla to Arsenal in the transfer window.
And, as Isco has a release clause of around £16.9million, the Primera Division outfit could be tempted to offload him should City come up with the money.
It is thought Mancini has earmarked Isco as an alternative for Eden Hazard, who opted to join Premier League rivals Chelsea in the summer.
