Manchester City are on the brink of agreeing a £23million deal with Sevilla to sign Spanish hitman Alvaro Negredo.
The two clubs have been in talks for over a fortnight and it looks like the transfer of the 27-year-old Spain international could be announced before the weekend.
Sevilla wanted almost £30million for their top scorer who has netted 70 goals in 139 La Liga appearances for the Andalusian club over the past four seasons.
But City have been able to get him for slightly less, with additional clauses potentially taking the total outlay to nearer £25million if Negredo helps them win back the Premier League title and tastes success in the Champions League.
Negredo's arrival bolsters City's strikeforce which has lost Mario Balotelli and Carlos Tevez in the last two transfer windows and he will become the third Spanish international on the club's books, joining ex-teammate Jesus Navas and David Silva.
City have tracked Negredo for a while with scout Rob Newman having watched almost every Sevilla home game last season.
