Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini will be without Gael Clichy and Micah Richards for the crucial visit of Real Madrid on Wednesday.

City must beat the Spanish giants if they are to maintain any hopes of reaching the latter stages of the Champions League, but defensive duo Clichy and Richards are both sidelined.

Clichy has an ankle injury and Richards remains sidelined with a knee problem, having suffered a number of injury problems over the course of the season to date.

Striker Mario Balotelli is rated as doubtful as he has a minor back complaint, but midfielder James Milner should be available having overcome a hamstring strain.
