Barcelona president Joan Laporta has warned supporters that Samuel Eto'o is considering a 'stratospheric offer' from Man City.

The Nou Camp chief told Barca fans that they would step up their efforts to sign Valencia's David Villa if Eto'o opted to leave - but said they had left the decision to the Cameroon striker.

"He has had a stratospheric offer from City that if he accepts will make him the best paid player in the world," Laporta told Radio Catalunya.

The bid is believed to be worth £30million to Barcelona and Laporta knows the strategic advantages of accepting it as it would finance a move for Villa - stopping the Valencia striker from joining arch-rivals Real Madrid.

The Barcelona president said Eto'o would like to stay at the Nou Camp but City's money would be difficult for the striker to refuse.
