Manchester City striker John Guidetti is set to leave the Etihad on loan in January and could be poised to join Malaga in La Liga.
Reports in Spain say Guidetti is set to make the switch when the New Year transfer window opens as City look to give the youngster some first-team experience.
Guidetti remains behind Sergio Aguero, Alvaro Negredo, Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic in the pecking order, and Manuel Pellegrini is open to letting the 21-year-old leave next month.
Several clubs, including Wigan Athletic, Real Betis, Feyenoord and even Liverpool, are believed to be interested in taking the youngster on loan but a deal with City manager Pellegrini's former club Malaga looks the most likely.
The Andalusian club's sporting director Mario Husillos met with his City counterpart Txiki Begiristain during Christmas and it was believed a deal was discussed.
Guidetti has previously been sent on loan to Burnley and Feyenoord, with the latter spell being particularly beneficial as he featured regularly for the Dutch side and scored 20 goals for them in the 2011-12 season.
