Hughes' defender belief

Man CityMan City boss Mark Hughes admits new signing Tal Ben-Haim has a "point to prove" after a disappointing one-season spell at Chelsea.

The Israel international left Bolton on a free transfer last summer and turned down a reunion with former Trotters boss Sam Allardyce at Newcastle in order to move to Stamford Bridge.

But the 26-year-old struggled to displace the likes of John Terry, Ricardo Carvalho and Alex so was allowed to return to the north west for around £5m this week.

"He does not feel he had enough games at Chelsea and he is looking forward to trying to establish himself in the team," Hughes told the club's website.

"He has come here with a point to prove."
