Hughes drops keeper admission

Man CityMan City boss Mark Hughes has admitted that he wants to sign an experienced goalkeeper, sparking reports of a swoop for Brad Friedel.

Hughes only has England Under-21 star Joe Hart and Denmark Under-21 custodian Kasper Schmeichel at his disposal following Andreas Isaksson's move to Dutch side PSV Eindhoven. And he is now aiming to bolster that area of his squad at Eastlands before the new Premier League campaign gets underway on August 16.

He told the MEN: "We have lost an experienced keeper.

"If we can get the right quality then we'll be looking to add some know-how in that department."

Hughes' admission has resulted in the media linking him with a possible 11th hour bid to take American shot-stopper, Friedel, from his former club Blackburn, despite the fact Rovers have already agreed a £2million fee with Aston Villa for him.
