Roberto Mancini has admitted he is an admirer of Edinson Cavani and Radamel Falcao after discussing summer transfer targets.
Mancini's future at the Etihad is uncertain amid speculation he could be replaced in the summer following a disappointing season so far.
City are 12 points behind local rivals and Premier League leaders Manchester United and crashed out of the Champions League at the group stage but Mancini remains bullish and reacted angrily to suggestions he could be sacked in the summer in his Friday press conference.
Then, speaking to the Guardian, later he revealed he is a fan of Napoli forward Cavano and Atletico Madrid ace Falcao when asked about potential summmer arrivals.
He said: "Cavani and Falcao would work in England. They have experience. Both players are 26, 27."
As long as he remains at the club, Mancini hopes to make up for last summer when he believes City made mistakes in the transfer market, primarily losing out to United in the chase to sign Robin van Persie from Arsenal.
Van Persie was the prime target while the club was also linked with Daniele de Rossi and Javi Martinez.
Mancini told the newspaper: "We didn't do what we should have done in the summer transfer market - we worked really badly in the market."
