Roberto Mancini watched reported Manchester City target Radamel Falcao play for Atletico Madrid in Sunday's 2-1 win against Malaga.
The City chief was in attendance at the Vicente Calderon stadium to see the 26-year-old Colombia international score his eighth league goal of the campaign as Atletico stayed in touch with Primera Division leaders Barcelona with a victory.
Mancini's decision to watch the game came days after Falcao admitted that he would be interested in playing in England at some stage of his career.
Atletico chairman Enrique Cerezo, who has already rebuffed speculation that his club's star player could be on his way to City's Premier League rivals Chelsea in the January transfer window, confirmed Mancini was at the match but played down the significance of his presence.
"We know that Mancini has come to watch the game but we are calm with the topic of Falcao," Cerezo said after the game.
Falcao, who moved to Spain from FC Porto in summer 2011, scored 36 goals for Atletico in his debut season and led them to the Europa League title as well as the UEFA European Super Cup, with a hat-trick against Champions League winners Chelsea in the latter.
