AS Monaco have approached Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini with a 'bumper' contract offer, according to Italian media sources.
Sportmediaset say the Ligue 2 club, who have established a two-point lead at the top of the table under Claudio Ranieri, have made contact with Mancini's camp and are ready to hand him the reins immediately.
The report also suggests that if Mancini is tempted to walk away from City this season, Football Development Executive Patrick Vieira would take charge on a temporary basis.
Mancini spent Sunday and Monday in Italy and was spotted in the crowd at Sampdoria's home game with Roma on Sunday.
Vieira started doing his coaching badges in the summer and completed his 'B' licence. He is working towards his 'A' and 'Pro' licences.
His lack of coaching qualifications would restrict him to a 'caretaker role' initially but under Premier League rules the Frenchman would be allowed to manage for 12 weeks.
