Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has said he would like to pair up Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli with Edinson Cavani.
De Laurentiis has spoken out after speculation has again linked his side's prolific Uruguayan striker, Cavani, with a move to the Etihad Stadium this month, while he has also snubbed a £45million bid from an unnamed club for his services.
And, while he confirmed that the 25-year-old has a £51million release clause in his contract, De Laurentiis turned the tables on City and revealed that he would like to sign controversial Italian hitman, Balotelli, from them and pair him up with Cavani.
Speaking after watching Cavani reach 20 goals for the Serie A season with a hat-trick in Sunday's 4-1 win against Roma, De Laurentiis told Gazzetta.it: "City are considering letting Balotelli go so they can move for Cavani? I would prefer to see Balotelli playing with Cavani here at Napoli.
"Teams tend to hold onto their best players in January. You take a big risk making big investments now.
"There is still time for us to bring in new faces but we must be cautious. On January 31 you will see what moves Napoli have made."
