Manuel Pellegrini believes victory in the Capital One Cup final could spur Man City on to complete a domestic treble this season.
City head to Wembley this weekend looking to lift the first piece of silverware on offer this campaign and at the same time banish memories of last year's FA Cup final defeat at the hands of Wigan.
Pellegrini has called on his players to forget about the shock 1-0 reverse to the Latics and concentrate on defeating Sunderland in Sunday's showpiece game.
The City boss believes it is vital to re-establish a winning mentality and hopes victory on Sunday could be the catalyst for a trophy-laden end to the season,
"It's very important for the team to have a winning mentality and to have an ambitious mentality," said Pellegrini.
"Both of those things start from winning the Capital One Cup, and then trying to win other titles. The feeling and the effect if you lose is not the same as if you win the game.
"I'm sure that we are doing the right things in the right way, to try to win this trophy and to try to fight for other titles."
Pellegrini was asked whether he thought his team could complete a domestic treble and refused to rule out a clean sweep of silverware on offer in England.
"It would be a big achievement, because it's not easy when you've just arrived from another league," he added.
