Manuel Pellegrini has moved closer to the Manchester City job after confirming he will depart Malaga at the end of the season.
The 59-year-old Chilean head coach has been the massive favourite to replace the sacked Roberto Mancini in the Etihad Stadium hot-seat this summer, but had previously rebuffed reports earlier this month that he has already agreed a deal to take over the 2011-12 Premier League champions.
However Pellegrini has now revealed that his time with the Champions League quarter-finalists will come to an end once the current La Liga season concludes.
He said, according to Spanish newspaper website Marca.com: "My coaching staff and I are separating from Malaga but our union with this city will be eternal.
"I'm going for sporting reasons."
