Manuel Pellegrini has brought the curtain down on his Malaga career but is refusing to say it is a done deal with Manchester City.
The Chilean's tenure with Malaga came to an end on Saturday evening as they crashed to a 4-1 defeat at Barcelona and for the first time he says he can now concentrate on getting his future sorted.
Talks are expected to begin in earnest on Monday and Pellegrini says he cannot confirm anything until a deal has been reached with City officials.
"We will see from Monday onwards where my future goes," Pellegrini revealed. "When an agreement is reached, we will say something definite.
"I'm not confirming anything, because I don't think it's fitting to speak on the basis of speculation. I have an agreement to start talks with Manchester City.
"Other rumours will be true, others not. But I've focused on Malaga until now."
Pellegrini admits it will be tough leaving Spain after so long but he is ready for a new challenge and a new country and it will come as a massive surprise if it is not at the Etihad Stadium.
"It's going to be tough to leave Spain after nine years. It's a country that has treated me marvellously well," he added. "A very important stage of my career has finished and destiny willl surely take me to another country."
