Pellegrini mulls Kompany return

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini may delay Vincent Kompany's return to action in Europe amid concerns over CSKA Moscow's pitch.

City go to the Russian capital for Wednesday's Champions League group game at the Khimki Arena and it was thought that key man Kompany would return to the squad for the game.

However, CSKA have had problems with their pitch this season and, even though it has now been passed playable by Uefa, it is not thought to be in great shape.

That means Pellegrini is worried about bringing Kompany back on a surface that might have a higher chance of aggravating an injury.

The City skipper is fit again following a thigh strain but did not play at West Ham on Saturday and may now have to wait for Sunday's big clash with Chelsea in the Premier League to make his comeback rather than in midweek in Moscow.
