Rivals eye Lescott

Stoke boss Mark Hughes is being linked with a move for Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott when the transfer window opens.

Lescott has slipped down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium and reports claim that former City boss Hughes is keen to do a deal for the central defender.

Hughes signed him when he was in charge of City and would like to take him to the Britannia Stadium if a move can be agreed. City are happy to sell and will not price him out of a move but the player's wages could be a problem.

Lescott is reported to be on £90,000 a week and it has also been suggested he will sit tight and wait for his contract to run out at the end of the season when he will be able to command a big signing on fee.
