Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson expects the race for European football to go to the wire.
Eriksson has led his new club to third in the Premiership - one point behind neighbours and champions United - and knows their current position could help him attract new players in January.
But the former England manager is expecting a close contest in the race to qualify for Europe, adding it could go down to the last game of the season.
"It is going to be a close run thing all season," he told the club's official website.
"There are a lot of good football teams around us in the table and every single point is valuable.
"I think we will still be talking about the identity of the sides who are likely to finish between third or fourth place and eighth and ninth when there are only two or three games remaining in the season."
