Manchester City will be alerted by Fiorentina's admission that they will 'evaluate' striker target Stevan Jovetic's future next year.

The 23-year-old Montenegro international was linked with a switch to the Etihad Stadium last summer but a move failed to go through as City boss Roberto Mancini stuck with his current collection of four forwards.

However, with the futures of both Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli continually being questioned, it is being suggested that City could look to freshen up their attacking options at the end of this season.

And Jovetic, who has impressed greatly since he moved to Fiorentina in 2008 from Partizan Belgrade, could be on the wanted list after the Italian Serie A outfit revealed that he could be offloaded.

Director Daniele Prade told Mediaset Premium: "He's our top player.

"With him on the pitch we've scored 11 goals, without him seven.

"He will remain (here) until June, then in the summer we will evaluate.

"We have ruled out any transfer in January."
