Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini insists his side are better than local rivals Manchester United despite Sunday's derby defeat.

Robin van Persie's injury-time free kick gave the Red Devils a dramatic 3-2 victory over City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

The result means Sir Alex Ferguson's men moved six points clear of City at the top of the Premier League.

However, Mancini insists the Premier League holders are still a better side than Fergie's men.

"United have more experience but we have a much better team and play much better football," he was quoted as saying in the Daily Mail.
