Barcelona midfielder Thiago has decided that he wants to join Manchester United this summer, according to reports in Spain.
The 22-year-old, who is currently on duty with Spain's Under-21s at the European Under-21 Championships in Israel, is determined to join a club that will give him more first-team opportunities as he targets a place in his country's senior squad for next summer's World Cup finals in Brazil.
Thiago made 27 appearances for Barca last season but remains down coach Tito Vilanova's pecking order at Camp Nou going into the new campaign.
And, despite his coach's insistence that he would like the player to remain with the club, Catalan newspaper Sport is reporting that Thiago has informed them of his desire to leave and Manchester United seems to be his likely destination.
Spanish daily Mundo is also suggesting that the Red Devils will trigger Thiago's 18 million euros release clause and the player is keen to make the switch to Old Trafford where he believes a big season for United will ensure him a place in Vicente Del Bosque's squad in Brazil in 12 months' time.
It is thought Thiago also favours a move to the Premier League champions as it would allow him to link up with Spanish Under-21 team-mate David De Gea.
