Barca plan RVP move

Barcelona are planning a £38million summer move for Manchester United striker Robin van Persie, according to reports in Spain.

Catalan newspaper Sport has claimed Barcelona have already approached the Old Trafford side regarding a potential transfer.

Last week United boss David Moyes rejected rumours that van Persie had asked to leave United but the report claims the Premier League giants have told Barca they will be willing to listen to offers in the region of £38m for the Netherlands international.

Van Persie joined United from Arsenal in the summer of 2012 in a £24million deal and has managed seven goals in 11 league games to date this season but it has been suggested he is unhappy following a lacklustre start to the campaign under new manager David Moyes.

Moyes has stressed the rumours regarding Van Persie's future are "absolute nonsense" but it remains to be seen as to whether the club will be able to keep hold of the forward if Barcelona firm up their interest with a serious offer.

United may also be willing to sell the 30-year-old for a profit if it becomes clear van Persie is keen to move on, although Moyes will want a proven striker lined up as a replacement if he is forced to cash in on the former Arsenal star.
