Napoli boss Rafael Benitez admits he must play a waiting game as he continues to pursue Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini.
Fellaini joined the Red Devils on transfer deadline day last summer from Everton for a fee of £27.5million, however he failed to hit the ground running.
Benitez is hoping to take advantage of the Belgium international's situation as he looks to strengthen his side ahead of a campaign including Champions League football.
The former Everton man is set to learn his fate over the coming days, with United returning home from their pre-season tour of America and Louis van Gaal confirming he will make a decision over his squad.
Benitez said: "We cannot discuss the market, we have so many players being named in the newspapers. I work with what I have. Everyone is working to improve in condition and in play.
"Fellaini is a Manchester United player, it does not depend on us, but it depends on them.
"He is a great player, but he is at another team. It appears he is waiting for Van Gaal. We will have to wait."
