Berbatov bags Bulgarian brace

Man UtdDimitar Berbatov hit a brace for Bulgaria last night to shrug off any suspicion that the Man Utd transfer talk is affecting his form.

The 27-year-old capitalised on a first-half defensive error and headed home from Martin Petrov's second-half cross to help his nation to a 2-1 win over Bosnia Herzegovina.

Berbatov's representative Emil Danchev maintains that something will happen to resolve the unsettled striker's future within the week after the ex-Bayer Leverkusen hitman slapped in a transfer request on Monday.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has refused to talk specifics over his chase for a striker but his first choice is still thought to be Berbatov, despite various reports linking United to Thierry Henry and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
