Boss belittles City's Ronaldo bid talk

Man UtdSir Alex Ferguson is unconcerned by Man City's billionaire takeover and the subsequent talk of a January bid for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Abu Dhabi-based backers of United's cross-city rivals dwarf the Old Trafford-controlling Glazer family in terms of financial clout, but Ferguson is showing no signs of losing sleep.

"I can't be worried," Ferguson told reporters after a meeting of top coaches at the Swiss headquarters of European soccer's governing body UEFA.

"We have a good setup ourselves and we've been working to build up the team we've got, so we just have to carry on.

"There are always challenges in football, some years ago it was Chelsea and some years ago it was Arsenal and wherever the challenge comes from we have to accept it. So it doesn't change anything."

After capturing Robinho from under the nose of Chelsea this week, City chiefs began suggesting they could mount a bid in the January transfer window for United's Portuguese winger.

Asked to comment on the speculation about a possible Ronaldo move, Ferguson replied: "They can talk."
