Deal still on for Real

Man UtdReal Madrid president Ramon Calderon will not give up on signing Cristiano Ronaldo and thinks Man Utd are holding out for big money.

Old Trafford chief Sir Alex Ferguson met with the Portugal winger for talks last week and then declared the 23-year-old would not be sold this summer.

But Calderon, who will have been encouraged by Ronaldo again refusing to pledge his future to the Red Devils, is still in determined mood over his hopes of landing his top target.

Quoted in the Spanish press, Calderon said: "This type (of transfer) is hard. But we're going to go for it all the same.

"I suppose it's all about a manner of theirs to let us know clearly that they're not going to lower the price in any way and that if we want him we have to pay a lot more money."
