Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic has emerged as a target for Spanish giants Barcelona and Italian champions Juventus.

The Serbian centre-half is out of contract at the end of the 2013/2014 campaign and it has been reported that Barcelona and Juventus will test United's resolve next summer, when he will have just one year left on his deal.

It has been speculated that Barcelona see Vidic as a long-term successor to Carles Puyol and could offer around £12million for the defender, while Juventus have been tipped to launch a rival bid in a bit to bolster their defensive options.

Manchester United may move to offer Vidic, who is currently sidelined with a knee injury, a new contract to ward off the interest of the Catalan giants and Juve.
