Manchester United winger Antonio Valencia will miss the game against West Ham with a hip injury, Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed.

Valencia missed Saturday's 3-1 win over Queens Park Rangers with the problem and Ferguson says he will also sit out the visit of the Hammers in midweek.

The Reds travel to the Madejski Stadium to take on Reading next Saturday and Ferguson is confident of having him back for the clash as long as he does not suffer any setbacks.

The winger has been carrying the injury in recent games but it is nothing serious and Ferguson, who was unaware of the injury until now, says rest will cure it.

"Antonio has had a bit of pain there for the last couple of weeks," said Ferguson. "He has been playing with it but he never mentioned it. When we asked him, he said it was sore.

"It won't be too long. He should be ready for next week."
