Fletcher happy to re-sign

Man UtdMan Utd midfielder Darren Fletcher admits he is happy to stay at Old Trafford for as long as he is wanted by Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Scotland star was strongly linked with Birmingham in the summer of 2007 but sat tight and was last week handed a contract extension through to the end of the 2011/12 season.

And Fletcher insists he was always prepared to wait for his chance which has now come following injuries to Paul Scholes, Michael Carrick and Owen Hargreaves.

"It's a great honour when you sign a new contract here," Fletcher told the club's website. "It's a fantastic club, the best in the world.

"We're Premier League champions and European champions and here you are always looking to retain those titles. There's no place I'd rather be as long as I'm appreciated by the manager."
