Manchester United's out of favour forward Bebe hopes he can return from a loan spell with Rio Ave and earn a place at Old Trafford.

The 22 year-old joined the Red Devils from Guimaraes for £7.4 million in 2010 but has made only seven appearances under Sir Alex Ferguson in his time at the club.

The winger believes that he has the opportunity while out on loan to show the Scot what he can do and earn a place back in the squad when he returns.

Bebe has struggled to to find the back of the net since joining the Red Devils but he did grab a debut goal for Rio Ave to give them a 1-0 win over Maritimo.

He said: "Sir Alex advised me to leave and find a club where I could play more often, so that I could make a great return in the future.

"Obviously something went wrong in the last phase of my career. I had a serious injury which thankfully I have fully recovered well from."

"I'm fine physically now. I was always training and playing. It's good to come here and I want to show what I can do."
