God knows where Ronaldo will end up

Man UtdReal Madrid target Cristiano Ronaldo has again refused to pledge his future to Man Utd despite Sir Alex Ferguson saying he'll stay on.

The Portugal international has been at the centre of a summer-long tug-of-war between Real and the Red Devils despite the fact he is under contract at Old Trafford until 2012.

Ronaldo and Ferguson held showdown talks last week and the Scot declared afterwards: "I can say he'll be a Manchester United player next season. That's our stance - he won't be sold."

However, the 23-year-old's latest comments look certain to enrage his manager who is currently away with the squad in South Africa.

Ronaldo told ESPN: "I don't know about the future, only God knows it. I can't say any more."

He added: "I want to be happy regardless of where I play. I can be happy everywhere, if I am with people I like, if I am animated, motivated.

"Am I motivated to continue at United? I am always motivated. I am ambitious and I want to always improve. I don't know the future, but I will be motivated."

Ronaldo is two weeks into an expected three-month lay-off as he recovers from ankle surgery.
