Gundogan hope for Red Devils

The father of Manchester United target Ilkay Gundogan has revealed that he is "completely open" to leaving Borussia Dortmund.

United boss David Moyes has been heavily linked with a swoop for the 23-year-old Germany international midfielder since he replaced Sir Alex Ferguson in the Old Trafford hot-seat in the summer.

Marouane Fellaini was drafted in for £27.5million from Everton, but his move has not worked out yet due to injury and poor form.

Despite the Belgium international's presence, Moyes will continue to rebuild the squad at the end of this season and it seems he has been given a boost in his potential bid to lure Gundogan away from Dortmund.

The player's father and agent, Irfan Gundogan, told German football magazine 'Kicker' that, while his son is focused on regaining his fitness from a back injury, he would be open to a move away from the Bundesliga outfit in the summer.

He said: "We will see what the future holds. But he is completely open to everything. We must wait."

It is thought United would have to pay out £25million to sign Gundogan, who has been compared to retired United legend Paul Scholes, while Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona will almost certainly try and compete for his signature.
