Jones boost for United

Last Updated: Fri, 28 Feb 2014 14:45

Phil Jones has returned to training and is expected to be back in contention for Manchester United's clash with West Brom on March 8.

Jones, who had been out since suffering concussion at Stoke on February 1, has also been struggling with a hip injury but is expected to return for the clash with the Baggies a week on Saturday.

The news of Jones' return will be a welcome boost to under-fire boss David Moyes following his side's dismal 2-0 Champions League defeat to Olympiacos on Wednesday after the ageing Rio Ferdinand played in Greece alongside Nemanja Vidic.

Jones missed out on a place in England's squad for next week's friendly against Denmark, but he will hope to impress for United between now and the end of the season to force his way into Roy Hodgson's World Cup plans.
