Shinji Kagawa and Wayne Rooney could return to the starting line-up when Manchester United face Chelsea in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

The duo combined for all four goals in last Saturday's 4-0 home Premier League win over Norwich City, but were surprisingly omitted for the midweek Champions League defeat to Real Madrid.

Rooney's future has been the subject of intense speculation since Sir Alex Ferguson chose to leave him out of the biggest game in United's season and all eyes will be on his selection at Old Trafford this Sunday.

If Rooney misses out again, it will be seen as a clear signal that the manager is prepared to sell the England striker in the summer transfer window.

Phil Jones remains United's only injury worry as he battles to recover from the ankle ligament damage he sustained in a challenge in the previous round against Reading.

Jonny Evans trained on his own before the Madrid match but was named on the bench and could return if Ferguson opts to rest Nemanja Vidic or Rio Ferdinand.
