Moyes checks on German defender

David Moyes has returned to Germany to make a check on Freiburg defender Matthias Ginter with a view to a move this summer.

United are without a game this weekend and Moyes is expected to use the time to personally check on a number of players on his summer transfer wishlist.

The first player the Scot checked on was Freiburg youngster Ginter, whose good form this season has seen him included in Germany's squad for next week's friendly with Chile.

The 20-year-old impressed in the goalless draw with Hertha Berlin on Friday night and Moyes may now return with an offer.

However, United are set to face stiff competition for Ginter's signature with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund also said to be interested.

The centre-back is said to have a clause in his contract which could see him leave the MAGE SOLAR Stadion for £7.2million and United might be tempted to meet his price tag as Moyes makes plans for a defensive reshuffle this summer.
